Teach an Chladaigh

This project involved the careful restoration of an ancestral cottage, alongside a considered extension inspired by the simple stone barns of the region, constructed from granite traditionally quarried from the land itself.

Situated on a challenging rocky site, the design adopts a split-level arrangement, with the entrance to the primary living spaces positioned on the first floor to capture abundant natural light and expansive views before descending to the more intimate snug and sleeping areas below.

The result is a cohesive design connected to the landscape and rooted in local materiality and tradition.
